Recurring tasks in MeisterTask help you to schedule repeating tasks without the need to recreate them every time you need to work on them.
MeisterTask lets you create weekly, monthly and yearly recurring tasks to automate your workflow.
A recurring task is an automation, so normally this is created using MeisterTasks Automations.
This is how you do it.
Access the project where you want to create the recurring task, click the Arrow sign from one of the section headers, select the Automations tab and click + Add Automation.
From the automation options select Recurring Task:
The recurring tasks automation is created in 2 steps:
- Create the task template
- Setup recurring task details
1. Create the task template
First, you will need to create the template for the recurring task. You can use an existing task to create the template or create it as when you create a new task within the Recurring Task automation dialog window. The system will use this template each time the recurring task is created in the project.

Access the task, click the 3 ellipses from the task dialog window and select the Repeat option:

From the Automations dialog select the Recurring Task automation, in the new dialog window click on + Add template:
- Select to whom the task will be assigned
- Add the task Title, Notes, Checklist items or Attachments.
- Due Date - you can set when the task will be due once it’s created, Due in the same day or in an X amount of days.
- Add Tags for the template task
- Select who will be added as watcher once the task is created.
Click Save template to proceed onto the second step of the automation.
2. Setup recurring task details
Once you create the task template, the recurring task settings become available. You are then able to change in what section the recurring task will be created in case you changed your mind and also define the frequency and the start date.
The Repeat option gives you the possibility to have the recurring task created on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis.
Weekly: The recurring task is created weekly or every 2 (or more) weeks, on the day/s you select.
Monthly: The recurring task is created monthly or every 2 (or more) months, on the day you select.
Yearly: The recurring task is created yearly or every 2 (or more) years, on the day and month you select.
Once you define the recurring task details click Done and that’s it, the recurring task automation is set.
Recurring tasks via Zapier or IFTTT
To set up weekly recurring tasks you can use this super handy template below (Please note that you will be asked to create a free Zapier account in order to use it):
To set up recurring tasks with other intervals simply follow these steps:
Step 1: Click on this link to sign up for Zapier and create a new 'Zap' with MeisterTask.
Step 2: In your Zapier dashboard, click the orange Make a new Zap button.
Step 3: Select Schedule by Zapier as the trigger app and choose an interval (daily, weekly, monthly) for your recurring tasks.
Next, select the time of day and choose whether new tasks should also be created on weekends. Then test the Zap.
Step 4: Select MeisterTask as your action app and choose the action Create task.
Step 5: Select the MeisterTask account you want to use for this action.
Step 6: Select the project and section where your recurring tasks will be added. Write the name of the task (=task title) in the field underneath. Task notes (=task descriptions) and assignees are optional.
Step 7: Test your Zap and give it a name.
That's it! Once your Zap is activated Zapier will automatically create this task for you at your chosen interval.
