How does role hierarchy work in Notes?

Please note

MeisterTask is currently being updated! You may still be seeing the old design. The new features will be available to everyone shortly.

If a person has not been added to a note by e-mail, but has been given access via team or group settings, the following rules apply:

A user’s product seat determines the highest level of access they can have in a note.

Key points about role hierarchy

  • A user’s role on the product seat level overrides:
    • Their role assigned through note-specific permissions.
    • Their role assigned through group permissions.
  • The role hierarchy is as follows: Product permission > Team permission > Group permission (see example below)

Example

If a user is assigned the following roles in a note:

  1. Viewer as a product seat.

  2. Contributor through the “Berta's Bonbon Betrieb” team.
  3. Contributor through a user group called “Design”.

Their highest permission for the note remains Viewer, as the product seat in accounts takes precedence over group roles and other permissions.
