Microsoft Outlook Add-in

This feature is available to all users

MeisterTask's Microsoft Outlook add-in allows you to create new tasks and add to your existing tasks without ever leaving your Outlook Mailbox.

After a quick initial set upyou can easily access the add-in by clicking the MeisterTask logo in any Outlook email. Read on to learn how!

Set Up MeisterTask's Outlook Integration

Before you can use MeisterTask's Outlook add-in, you'll need to install it onto your Outlook mailbox. To do this:

 

  1. Visit your Outlook mailbox at office.outlook.com (or open the Outlook app).
  2. Open any message and click the more actions (...) icon.

    If you're using the Outlook app, click the Get Add-Ins icon in the top-right corner of your screen and skip step 3).

  3. Select Get Add-Ins from the dropdown menu.

  4. Type MeisterTask into the search field.
  5. Click the MeisterTask Add-In as soon as it appears in the search dropdown.
  6. Click the Add button.

That's it! The MeisterTask Outlook Add-In is now installed and ready to use.

Be sure to follow these instructions in Microsoft's Help Center to install the add-in.

 

To open the MeisterTask Outlook Add-In:

 

  1. Open any message in Outlook.
  2. Click the MeisterTask logo (checkmark) above your message.

    If the MeisterTask checkmark isn't displayed above your message, click the More Actions icon (...), then select the add-in from the drop-down menu.

    Data Protection

    The first time you use MeisterTask in Outlook, you'll need to authorize your Outlook account to access your MeisterTask data. Click Authorize to proceed.


 

Turn an Email Into a Task

Once you've set up the MeisterTask Outlook integration, you can easily create tasks out of any e-mail in your Outlook mailbox. To create a new task:

 

  1. Open any message in Outlook.
  2. Click the MeisterTask logo (checkmark) above your message.

    If the MeisterTask checkmark isn't displayed above your message, click the More Actions icon (...), then select the add-in from the drop-down menu.

  3. Click Log In and sign in to your Meister account.
  4. Click Create a Task.

  5. Select a project, section, title and description for your new task.
    Click "Add email text to task description" to quickly paste the entire contents of the email in your new task's description. 
  6. Any Attachments and Images included in the email are automatically included as attachments to your new task.
    Press to deselect images/attachments or select Remove all to not include any attachments.
  7. When you're done, click Create task. Your new task and attachments are now immediately visible in MeisterTask.

Add the Contents of an E-Mail to A Task

With MeisterTask's Outlook Add-In, you can add the contents of any email (including attachments and images) to a task without ever leaving your Outlook Inbox. To do this:

 

  1. Open the Outlook Add-In and log in to your Meister account.
  2. If you haven't yet created any tasks using the Outlook Add-In, click Add to task.

    If you've already created tasks using the Outlook Add-In, they will be displayed on the add-in's home screen. Click the task you'd like to add to or click + Add to another task to search for any other task in MeisterTask.

    In the next window, you can add the contents of your email to a task as a comment or attachment(s):

  3. Type any comments you'd like to add to the task in the text field provided.
    You can also click "Add email text as a comment" to immediately paste the body of your email into the text field.
  4. All of the e-mail's attachments are listed under the Attachments header. Click to deselect attachments or select Remove all to not add any attachments to the task.

    Tip

    The attachments section also includes the email itself as an .eml file. Add this attachment to your task to quickly attach the complete contents of your e-mail to the task.

  5. Once you're finished, click Add to task.

Compatibility

MeisterTask's Outlook add-in uses Outlook API 1.8, and is therefore supported by all Office 365 subscriptions and some 2019 one-time purchase licenses for Windows. You can learn more about which Outlook clients support this add-in here.

 

Users of earlier versions of Outlook will still be able to use the add-in, but will not be able to add attachments to tasks.

I need to know how to keep e-mail from being delete when dragged into MeisterTask. Was just testing today, but this is a major issue for us.
