You can use MeisterTask to import project data and transfer your projects from Trello or Asana. You can also import project templates that have been stored as CSV or JSON files.
Import Projects From Trello
You can import your Trello projects quickly and easily from the MeisterTask dashboard.
- On the MeisterTask Dashboard, Click the (+) next to Projects on the left side of your screen.
- Select Import from the Drop-Down Menu.
- Click the Trello icon.
- Click "Connect to Trello" and log in to your Trello account (You may need to scroll down to log in and grant access).
- Select the board(s) you would like to import to MeisterTask and click continue.
- Choose which collaborators you would like to include on your new MeisterTask project and which Trello users they will replace. Once you're finished, click Continue.
- That's it! You'll receive a notification once your Trello Board has been successfully imported into MeisterTask.
Import Projects From Asana
Creating an Asana CSV file
In order to import an Asana project, you'll first need to use Asana to export your project data into a .csv file. To do this, choose Export > CSV from the (i) menu in Asana.
You can import your Asana projects quickly and easily from the MeisterTask dashboard:
- On the MeisterTask Dashboard, Click the (+) next to Projects on the left side of your screen.
- Select Import from the Drop-Down Menu.
- Click the Asana icon.
- Select Choose .csv file and navigate to an Asana .csv file.
- Click Continue.
- That's it! You'll receive a notification once your Asana project has been imported into MeisterTask.
Import a MeisterTask Project Template (JSON file)
- On the MeisterTask Dashboard, Click the (+) next to Projects on the left side of your screen.
- Select Import from the Drop-Down Menu.
- Click the MeisterTask icon.
- Select Choose .json file and navigate to a saved project template.
- Click Continue.
- That's it! You'll receive a notification once your project template has been imported into MeisterTask.
Import Data From a CSV File
- On the MeisterTask Dashboard, Click the (+) next to Projects on the left side of your screen.
- Select Import from the Drop-Down Menu.
- Click the CSV icon.
- Select Choose .csv file and navigate to a saved CSV file.
- Click Continue.
- That's it! You'll receive a notification once your project template has been imported into MeisterTask.
Formatting Your CSV File
In order for your CSV file to be properly imported into MeisterTask, it must be formatted in the following way:
The following columns are mandatory in your CSV file — Failing to include this data will result in an error:
- name
- section
-
status
An example of a properly formatted CSV file is available here for download.
Please note that only the following data can be imported from CSV files:
- Task name*
- Task section*
- Task status (open, completed, binned or archived)*
- Task description/notes
- Task due dates
- Tags
Important: Columns marked with an * are mandatory! Failing to include this information for a task will result in a failed import!
Task Statuses
In the CSV format, a task's status (Completed, Open, Trashed, or Archived) is indicated by a number:
- 1: Open
- 2: Completed
- 8: Binned
- 16: Archived
UTF-8 Encoding
If your import fails, ensure that your CSV file is encoded using the UTF-8 Format.
