Content Manager

This feature is available soon to all users.

Please note: MeisterTask is currently being updated! You may still be seeing the old design. The new features will be available to everyone shortly.

The term Content Manager is used in two different ways in MeisterTask:

  • Content Manager seat: A type of product license.
  • Content Manager role: A project-specific role.

This article explains the permissions available for users with a Content Manager seat and what actions users can take when assigned the Content Manager role in a project.

What is a Content Manager?

The term Content Manager applies to both product seat and project role.

Content Manager seat

A Content Manager seat determines a user's overall access to MeisterTask. A user with a Content Manager seat has full access to all features in MeisterTask.HC EN CM seat_20250415.png

Content Manager role

A Content Manager role defines a user's permissions within a specific project. A person with the Content Manager Project Role has full control over the project.

It's important to understand that having a Content Manager seat, which grants system-wide access, does not automatically make you a Content Manager in every project. To gain access to a project you must either join the project or be invited by someone else to the project.

What can Content Managers do?

Users with a Content Manager seat can:

  • Create projects and notes
  • Access pinned tasks
  • Use all other features available in MeisterTask according to their plan.

Users with the Content Manager role in a project have full control over the project. They can:

  • Access content: view all team content, projects, and archived/deleted items.
  • Create or edit tasks (including filling out task details or notes)
  • Communicate: Create comments on tasks or notes. React and respond to comments. Receive notifications.
  • Attachments: view/download attachments. Add attachments to tasks or notes.
  • Assign tasks to themselves or others
  • Set due dates or schedule timelines for tasks
  • Modify project settings, such as:
    • Adding or removing project members
    • Editing tags
    • Sharing projects
    • Setting up automations
    • Watch or follow tasks and projects

Learn more about view-only and editing access differences here.

What can Content Managers not do?

Users with a Content Manager seat cannot:

  • Access team settings, unless they are Team Admins as well.
  • Access other Private Projects where they have not been invited to

How can I set up a Content Manager in MeisterTask?

Team Admins can assign the Content Manager to a user as a product seat on the My team page in Accounts. Assigning Content Manager seat grants the user full access systemwide.

Other Content Managers can assign new users the Content Manager role as a project role for specific projects or notes in their Project/Notes Settings. Assigning the Content Manager role at this level grants the user full access only within the selected project or note.
