What does "Content Manager" mean in team invitations?

This feature is only available to Team Admins.

When inviting team members, they are automatically assigned the "Content Manager" seat by default. This article explains what this seat type means, what permissions it includes, and what happens when you select "No access"

What is a "Content Manager" seat?

In this context, "Content Manager" refers to a seat type that determines the level of access an invited user will have in your workspace. Users with this seat typically have the following permissions:

Important notes

  • Assigning a Content Manager seat does not automatically grant the Content Manager project role. Inviting a user to your team does not automatically add them to any project.
  • A user with a Content Manager seat can create their own project. When they do, they are automatically assigned the Content Manager project role for that project.
  • A user needs to be invited separately to get a Content Manager project role in any Private Project created by someone else. In a Team Project, team members with a Content Manager seat can independently join the project with the Contributer project role.

By default, all invited users are assigned this seat unless it is manually changed. You can change this setting anytime on a later date.

Content Manager seat vs. Content Manager in a Project

- The Content Manager seat grants systemwide access to all features in MeisterTask (except for Team Settings).

- The Content Manager project role is specific to individual projects, allowing a designated user to manage project members and tasks within that project only.
Every user with a Content Manager project role also has a Content Manager seat, but not every user with a Content Manager seat automatically has a Content Manager project role—they can have any of the five available project roles.

Adjusting access levels

When sending an invitation, you can modify the invitee’s role:

  1. Click Content Manager next to the invitee’s email address.
  2. Select either Content Manager or No Access. If you choose No access, the user will not have access to this software.
